OIL PAINTS

M Graham

Oil color made with walnut oil has been preferred by artists for centuries. It provides rich, vibrant color that is naturally more alive and brilliant. Free flowing and slower drying, our oil color enables delicate passages of finely blended color that will retain its brilliance over time.

We chose to build our oil color with walnut oil because its unique refractive index and non-yellowing nature produces color that is more naturally alive and brilliant. In addition walnut oil allows us to increase the amount of pigment in each color, resulting in extraordinary richness, color saturation, brilliance and tinting strength.

Michael Harding Handmade Artists Oil Colours

My paints are made by hand, using techniques which date back to the days of the Old Masters. There is a very simple reason for this painstaking process. As an artist and painter I wanted to create colours that were true and vibrant, and paint which was beautiful and durable.

The greater the pigment content of a paint the greater the resistance it has to fading. Nearly all manufacturers use various fillers to extend the volume of the oil paint. It may increase profits but it compromises on quality. I totally refuse to do this. Why make something exceptional and then dilute it?

I will not claim that my paints will turn you into a great painter, but I can promise they will have a profound effect on your work. Your colours will be stronger and richer, and you will find the texture of the paint incomparable. You will love working with them. Try them. You will be amazed

Our watercolor formulations are created with exceptional amounts of pigment in a time-honored binding medium of pure gum arabic and natural blackberry honey.

As an essential ingredient in our binding medium, honey contributes to moistness for smooth, easily controlled applications, increased pigment concentrations and freedom from reliance on preservatives. Because of the honey medium, our color resists hardening on the palette, or in the tube. It dilutes easily, often after months of disuse.

ACRYLIC PAINTS

At the heart of our acrylic color lies a unique high-solids pure acrylic emulsion. It creates stronger, more intense color and provides a creamy delicacy of touch that offers a world of opportunity from fine detail to broad, full brushed applications.

Containing 60% solids (instead of the usual 45% found in artists color), our acrylic emulsion allows us to increase pigment loads and eliminate artificial thickeners. The result is increased pigment loads for more intense color and enhanced working properties with the flow and delicacy normally found only in fine gouaches.

PENS/MARKERS

Sakura

Our company heritage in art materials led to development of a specialized ink technology, Pigma® ink, which is used in our Micron®, Graphic and Brush pens. In the early 80’s, Sakura’s labs identified the need for an inexpensive drafting tool that used superior pigment instead of low-grade dye inks. The breakthrough came with the discovery of how to reduce the pigment particles to submicron size so that the inks flow evenly through even the narrowest of pen nibs. Today, Pigma ink continues to be the most reliable archival quality ink on the market and is loyally used by architects, scientists, artists, cartoonists, and scrapbookers, to name a few.
